NTA Flow Storage Database

Hey Y'All,

I'm planning a medium-sized NPM and NTA installation. In lab testing, we see that NTA offers a new offers a new fast-bit database when installing on a 64 bit machine. This might be a great idea, but....

1. This seems to be a non-relational database. As network engineer, this is fine with me, but I'm not sure how our SQL DBAs will feel about this. For all its drawbacks, Microsoft SQL Server is mature, well-documented and has elaborate management tools. How do we manage the NTA Flow Storage Database, and where is it's documentation?

2. I've previously encountered MS SQL Server performance issues induced by NTA, so I'm alert to the potential performance benefits of this new database. However, what we're planning is not a huge deployment. Is selecting MS SQL Server even an option when deploying on a 64 bit machine? (It didn't seem like an option during our prototype install, but maybe I'm missing something.)

3. Are there any plans to offer a Flow Storage Database only deployment? That is, all SolarWinds applications utilizing this new database, with no MS SQL Server? That would be an interesting possibility!

Thanks, Everybody, Brent
