We can confirm, that it is mostly by design. When you choose for example time range between 11:35 - 12:35, left part on x asis will starting with 11:00 (whole hour) even though that first data point will be let say at 11:37 (or 11:35). Result is that you will see blank area at the beginning of chart. This behaviour is standard within all charts, but on resource charts which have zoom control you don't see it so much, because chart is not always zoomed by default for whole time range.
